Leaving Kansas for Alaska

WICHITA, Kansas - I was finally accepted as a teacher at Dimond High School in Anchorage, Alaska July 15, 2008 after almost two months of application and licensure processes and interviews. I have all my bags ready and belongings kept in some places for the thought of going back to Kansas for a vacation.

To my dismay, some of the people in Kansas thought that Alaska is another country above Canada. There are a lot of people though who consider Alaska as a great place and I can see it in the internet. My friends were divided in giving me impressions about Alaska. I told them that unless I go there I will not know what's in there.

Earlier, I have been surfing the internet on Filipinos living in Alaska, getting their names, numbers and email addresses. I called, sent messages, relayed intentions through churches until one day I was able to get hold of Mrs. Cecilia Jardin. She told me that she will try to look for some place where I could stay.
.... to be continued.
